Has Thailand’s People’s Party Lost the Support of the Young?
Thailand’s opposition People’s Party (PP), successor to the Move Forward and Future Forward parties, continues to enjoy strong support among young voters despite political setbacks and controversial compromises. Survey data show youth ideological alignment with the party rose from 43.4% in 2022 to 76.9% in 2025, driven partly by backlash against the dissolution of progressive parties. Although PP’s 2025 decision to support conservative politician Anutin Charnvirakul as interim prime minister weakened its ideological appeal, 2026 polling indicates it remains the preferred choice among young voters. However, the party risks losing support if a more ideologically consistent progressive alternative emerges in the future.
