The Influence of Organizational Characteristics of High-Performing Firms on Work Engagement and Employee Performance: The Moderating Role of Age
A survey of employees in Thailand’s automotive manufacturing sector examined how the characteristics of high-performing organizations influence work engagement and employee performance. Strong management quality, open communication, workforce development, long-term orientation, and continuous improvement practices were found to enhance employee engagement, which subsequently drives higher performance levels. Employee engagement emerged as the primary mechanism linking organizational excellence to individual outcomes. Age also plays a moderating role, with older employees deriving greater performance benefits from engagement than younger employees. These insights underscore the importance of fostering supportive organizational environments and age-sensitive engagement strategies to sustain workforce productivity.
