What’s the Cambodia-Thailand Peace Declaration and Why Is Trump Involved?

Thailand and Cambodia plunged into their deadliest border clashes in decades in July 2025, leaving dozens dead and displacing more than 300,000 people. The violence, sparked by landmine incidents and rooted in century-old territorial disputes in the Emerald Triangle, rapidly escalated into multi-front fighting before U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of trade sanctions forced both sides to negotiate.
